Lizzy Sparks

Lizzy Sparks (she/her) is a writer from the Midwest with Appalachian roots. She earned her BA in English and creative writing from Ohio State, where she read for The Journal and the annual Non/Fiction Prize. Currently, she is an MFA student in the creative writing program at the University of New Mexico. She is based in Albuquerque.

Her writing has appeared in Belt Magazine, JAKE, Sheepshead Review, Mantis, Underside Stories, and elsewhere. In 2024, her poem “It Girl Corpse: Or, I Cut up the National Enquirer and Turned It Into Shitty Poetry” was nominated for a Best of the Net. She writes about girlhood, grief, and Gerard Way, among other things.
